Romain Pouyau
Romain Pouyau was born in 1982, in Orléans France. He studied at business School in Angers (ESSCA), then worked in communications agency in Paris, and onto the digital marketing department of different companies.
He is a self-taught artist who started publishing his work in 2018.
Romain works with all kinds of paper, including old newspapers, street posters, old ads and much more. He also adds other materials
such as pens, acrylic painting, oil sticks and pastels, creating mixed media.
The artist has an eye for vintage styling, that is what inspires his creative choices. For Romain, it is about collecting, transforming and mixing the materials to create something new. All the materials clash and blend leaving the viewer with a truly dynamic, contemporary creation.
Collage art, Pop Art, Street Art, Contemporary Art, New Realism, Abstract Art, he navigates from one genre to another.
Romain admits he is obsessed by typography, old ads, raw materials and vintage portraits that he finds in old newspapers and magazines,
however he also works with contemporary magazines such as Jacques Villeglé and the New Realists did in the1950s.
His artwork swings from order to chaos. The compositions are raw but romantic, lively but melancholic.
