CHROMA
FOUR PAINTERS - NEW WORK
18th - 30th June 2016

Aimee Brigginshaw
May Everett
Kathryn Lang
Sarah Shaw

Derek Jarman’s book, ‘Chroma – a book of colour’ provided the inspiration for the title of this new painting show ‘Chroma’ that brings together the work of four contemporary Brighton painters who each explore and celebrate the fine line between abstraction and figuration, but also, essentially, the emotional properties of both colour and mark making.

Expect both original oils and limited edition fine art prints which evoke something of the place where they live – from the bright lights and dark spaces of Brighton’s sea roads to the barren emptiness of Dungeness beach where Jarman lived and wrote the evocative words that inspired this exhibition…

‘…Constant, colourful, chromatic,
Party coloured and prismatic,
Kaleidoscopic, variegated,
Tattooed, dyed, illuminated,
Daub and scumble, dip and dye,
High keyed colour, colour lie’

‘Chroma’ runs from 18th June to the 30th June
Dynamite Gallery, Trafalgar Street, Brighton
10am to 6pm daily
